I also tend to avoid Sony products as I find that the company is unable to offer any degree of consistent quality. I purchased the GT200 for my 26 year old Volvo and connected it to some basic, but new, Panasonic speakers (two - 4" and two - 6"). I am thoroughly impressed with the Sony GT200. It is fairly simple to install and to operate and truly a pleasure to listen to. The remote control is useful if you have a 10 year old in the back seat and you can handle rapid-fire channel surfing through the pop stations; I advise you get a magnet to store the remote somewhere in the car before it ends up under the rear seat. The radio reception has been exceptional. For the price I would highly recommend this machine.The only negative comment that I can offer is that LED display is irritating though not as garish as some that I've seem. Read more 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful  I like this Player quite a bit, fits Subaru Forester, By It's the Dharma (Washington DC) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony CDX-GT200 CD Receiver (Electronics) Despite the fact that Sony has snuck the RootKit digital-rights virus into it's commercial CD's, I swallowed hard, purchased and installed this Sony CD Player in my '98 Subaru Forester a few weeks ago, mostly because it was one of the few that has an external input on the front for an Ipod or other MP3 player.The CDX-GT200 has improved the sound of my factory speakers remarkably. The thing sounds great to my ear. The radio has 18 presets for FM and 12 for AM. I used to have a first-generation Aiwa MP3-capable CD deck installed in the car (before it was vandalized) and this Sony sounds MUCH better, using the same speakers. It plays all the CD's I have burned with MP3 files and it navigates through folders quite well, allowing me to place whole albums in separate folders on the CD. I found that for the money, Sony Xplod setups are nice and sweet. I have this stereo in my car, followed by a Xplod 500w 4/3 amp, and I push two 12" bazooka subs hard. The sound quality is awsome, $4$ this stereo can compare to Pioneer or Pyramid when it comes to sound quality. But if you are looking for a good deck, that will play whatever you throw at it, and your a father of 3 on a budget, this one is perfect. Bravo Sony! |
