The sound quality with just the Sony stereo and speakers was not impressive, I was ready to return everything. Lots of noise and any bass sounded awful. We decided to give the stereo and speakers a chance by buying the Sony subwoofer and amp. I am so glad we did. After hooking everything up, which was easy, the sound quality was amazing. Everything from Hip-hop to high-treble 80's music sounds great. I was worried because Sony is not known for sound quality, but I am sold from now on. I hope this review helps. I installed this Sony Amp, along with the Sony CDXM60UI Marine Stereo and 6 Polk DB-651 speakers (4 in the boat & 2 on the tower). This combination has a clean crisp sound, even at a higher volume, with a nice bass. I'm so impressed with this amp. My installer was also impressed with how this system sounded.
